Parents & Families
In the last 40 years, more than 24,000 children have participated in LiFEsports. This program combines a play-based social skills curriculum with a four-week, summer sports camp. Within this camp, girls and boys, 9 years old to 8th grade, that are from vulnerable circumstances, learn and play in an environment based on teamwork and fair sports-play. LiFEsports staff and counselors serve as positive role models for campers and help youth become more involved within their community. In addition to the four-week summer camp, LiFEsports offers six community-based sports clinics during the year to provide campers with additional learning opportunities. For older youth, LiFEsports offers a year-round Youth Leadership Academy (serving high school youth), which teaches management and leadership skills while preparing them for future positions, internships, and jobs. The curriculum provides training to help youth leaders’ transition from school to the workforce. Youth leaders also have the opportunity to partner with youth organizations in Central Ohio on programming and service opportunities.
In 2012, LiFEsports was given the “Excellence in Summer Learning” Award by the National Summer Learning Association for helping to promote healthy development for youth K-12.
